堪萨斯州威奇托州立大学航空航天工程学院MAD实验室的最新研究表明，气凝胶是一种很好的轻量化吸音材料。该团队测试了两种气凝胶的吸声能力：商用二氧化硅气凝胶的颗粒和3D打印纤维素气凝胶。他们发现，在一定的重量下，这两种气凝胶比泡沫等传统降噪材料能吸收更多的声音，并且3D打印气凝胶还可以在更宽的频率范围内降低噪音。这一新发现将应用于航空和太空旅行等对于轻量化设计要求非常高的行业中。
